Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
kouworks (“we”) respects the privacy of people who use the iOS app “VertiCut” (“the app”). This policy explains how the app handles information.
1. What we collect
The app collects nothing: no personal information, no usage data, no video, and no information about faces. We have no server, and no account is needed. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service.
2. How video is processed (on your device)
Importing, face detection, tracking and exporting the vertical video all happen on your iPhone. Your video is never sent off the device.
- The video you choose is copied into the app’s temporary storage for processing. That copy is deleted the next time the app starts.
- The exported vertical video is also created in temporary storage. When you choose “Save to Photos” it is saved to your photo library, and the temporary file is deleted the next time the app starts.
3. Face detection
The app’s core feature is to detect the faces in a video and move the frame to follow one person. Information about faces is handled as follows.
- Faces are detected by a machine-learning model included in the app (YuNet, MIT License), entirely on the device.
- What the app uses is the position and size of each detected face (the coordinates of a box) in each frame, and the distribution of colours around the face, used to keep telling the same person apart within the same video.
- This is held in the app’s memory only while you are editing. It is never written to storage or sent off the device, and it is gone when the app is closed.
- The app does not create, store or send face features (templates) or biometric identifiers. It does not recognise people across different videos, and there is no way to register a face in advance.
4. Access to your photo library
- Videos are imported with the standard iOS photo picker. Only the video you choose is given to the app; it does not ask for access to your whole library.
- The app asks for “add only” permission to your photo library only when you save an exported video. You can change this at any time in the iOS Settings app.
- If you choose a video that is in iCloud Photos but not on your device, iOS downloads it. The app does not send anything.
5. In-app purchase
Buying and restoring Pro is handled by Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Payment information is managed by Apple and never reaches us. So that Pro keeps working without a connection, the app stores only the last purchase status it could confirm (whether you have Pro) on the device.
6. Reporting a problem (“Copy details”)
Only when you tap “Copy details” on an error screen, the following is copied to the clipboard:
- Your device model, iOS version and app version
- The last few steps you took and the error codes (including the number of seconds between steps)
File names, storage paths and video content are not included. Nothing is sent automatically; it reaches us only if you paste it into an email or similar and send it. We use it only to answer that enquiry.
7. Sharing and network use
Because we collect nothing, there is nothing to share with third parties. The only network traffic is the App Store’s, for in-app purchase, made by iOS.
8. Children’s privacy
As described above, the app collects no information, including none about children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when needed. Significant changes will be announced on this page.
