What is Boothcard

Boothcard is an iPhone app for the business cards you collect at trade shows and events. Snap a card with the camera and on-device OCR reads the name, company, and other details into the right fields. Sort cards into folders, mark how important each contact is, and export everything as CSV for Excel or your CRM.

Card images and the text read from them are stored only on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.

OCR runs on your iPhone; your contact data is never transmitted anywhere.

How to Use

Launch the app and allow access to the camera.
Take a photo of the card, or import an image from your photo library.
The card is cropped automatically and the text OCR found is placed into the fields.
Check and correct the details — by keyboard or by voice. Add a photo of the back if you want one.
Choose a folder and a priority, then save. You can filter by both later.
Export to CSV whenever you need it, and import that file into Excel or your CRM.

Pro is a one-time purchase — buy it once and there is nothing further to pay. The price is shown in the app and on the App Store purchase sheet, and varies by country or region. On a new device, use "Restore Purchases" to bring Pro with you.

FAQ

The card isn't being read correctly.

Try the following:

Work in good light and keep shadows off the card.
Lay the card flat and fit the whole card in the frame.
Wait for focus before taking the shot.
Place the card against a background it contrasts with, such as a dark desk.

Heavily designed cards and large logos can push text into the wrong field. Review the details before saving and fix anything that's off by keyboard or by voice.

How many cards can I save for free?

The free version saves up to 30 cards in total — it is a lifetime limit, not a daily one that resets. Importing from your photo library is also one image at a time. Pro removes the limit and lets you import up to 20 images at once.

Can I back up my data?

Yes — export to CSV and you have a file you can email to yourself or keep in Files or a cloud storage service. Note that the CSV contains the text details only, not the card images.

Can I move my data to a new iPhone?

Restoring the new device from an iCloud backup brings the app's data with it, so create an iCloud backup before you switch. For Pro, sign in with the same Apple Account and use "Restore Purchases".

My Pro purchase isn't showing up.

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with, then tap "Restore Purchases" on the Pro screen in the app. If that doesn't help, email us at the address below.

The CSV looks garbled in Excel.

The CSV is written in Shift_JIS so that Excel opens it correctly with Japanese text. If you see garbled characters, instead of double-clicking the file, import it from Excel's Data tab as a text file and set the encoding to Shift_JIS (Japanese).

I haven't granted photo library access — can I still import from photos?

Yes. Importing uses the iOS photo picker, which doesn't require access to your whole photo library. Only the images you pick are handed to the app.

Voice input isn't working.

Voice input needs permission for the microphone and for speech recognition. Open iOS Settings, find Boothcard, and check that both are allowed.
